A symbiotic relationship between land, home, human, and design.

Working in Charleston, its surrounding islands and along the coast allows me to remain creative and encourages me to address my craft in innovative ways. I value the time studying and walking each site, taking notes of the organic shapes and unique views, while envisioning a home settling in naturally amongst our distinctive southern landscapes.

In harmony with its sense of place, the essence of a home comes from those who look out its windows and walk along its floors. My best clients are those who bring their own ideas to the table and who want their homes to be specific to their lifestyle and personality. The design process is a collaborative one and I encourage clients to present photographs, ideas, opinions and complexities during initial consultations and conversations. The joy of my job is to bring all of that into focus, to achieve clarity in design, and make that essence tangible.

Once complete, clients often comment that their homes feel larger, or more spacious, than the number expressed in the square footage. I thoughtfully consider function and efficiency when designing, there are no wasted spaces. In doing this, the home has an ability to flow and to breathe while still maintaining a conscientious footprint on the landscape.
